London, Jan 17: Steven Joseph Christopher was arrested in Brookhaven, Mississippi after having made threats to assassinate US President elect Barack Obama during his January 20 inauguration, according to the US Department of Justice.
"Threats against the president-elect will be taken very seriously," said US attorney Dunn Lampton.
Christopher, who is from Wisconsin, was arrested by the Secret Service in Brookhaven on Friday, after two threats were posted on the Internet, The Telegraph reported.

"We saw so many people that were telling the news cameras that they never thought they would see this day," White House press secretary Dana Perino told reporters on Friday.
"President Bush was overcome and delighted that people would now realize that this is a country for everybody," The Washington Times quoted her, as saying.
Washington, January 17: Barack Obama's Presidential Inaugural Committee has revealed that his supporters amongst the public will be allowed in the White House on Wednesday, the day after he is sworn in, on a first-come, first-served basis.
An email sent out by the committee reveals the unusual offer, and tells that all that the people are required to do is to sign up on their Web site.
"If you are among the first to sign up today, you and a friend could be there," the Washington Post quoted the e-mail as saying.
Caracas - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Friday called for an end to the US embargo on Cuba and suggested a meeting between Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and president-elect Barack Obama, who is to be inaugurated Tuesday.
Lula noted that differences between Caracas and Washington were largely because of outgoing US President George W Bush, and stressed that the "extraordinary importance that Venezuela has at this point" cannot be denied.
