Srinagar, July 30 : Pakistani troops again fired at Indian forces at the Nariya Post in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara Sector on Wednesday, violating the ceasefire agreed between the two countries along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to Defence Ministry sources, the firing started at 11:45 A. M. today and is reported to be still on.

The Indian side has not retaliated so far.

The fresh firing comes just a day after a flag meeting was held between Indian and Pakistani defence officials to ease the simmering border tensions.

On Monday, around 15 Pakistani soldiers had crossed over to the Indian side in the Nowgam Sector of Jammu and Kashmir in violation of the 2003 ceasefire announced by the two neighbours.

One Indian soldier and four Pakistani soldiers were killed.

Defence Minister A. K. Antony, on Tuesday said that there were as many as 19 violations of the LoC recorded since January this year and asked Pakistan to respect the
2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

Antony further said, "The increase in ceasefire violations and firings across the LoC is a matter of concern to India."

“Islamabad should strictly adhere to the existing mechanism for dealing with violations by holding local flag meetings and Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks,” Antony said. (ANI)
