Pak PM says no evidence found showing Musharraf allowed drone strikes
Karachi, Nov 25: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that his government had found that no evidence that former president Pervez Musharraf had permitted the US to launch strikes inside Pakistan.
The prime minister said that according to the record of the General Headquarters and the Foreign Office, the former president had not allowed the US to conduct strikes inside the country.
Speaking to reporters, Gilani said that the parliamentary committee on national security would meet on December 2 to evolve a strategy to counter terrorism and extremism.
To another question, the premier said that the country’s prevailing economic turmoil was due to a global recession, which had hit even economically strong countries that were also contacting the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial assistance.
The prime minister said that economy and terrorism were the two main challenges the country faced, and added that terrorism, extremism and the economic crisis were inter-connected and the government would come out of these crises with the help of its allies. (ANI)
