Ozil and Beck set to win first caps for Germany

Ozil and Beck set to win first caps for Germany Dusseldorf - Defender Andreas Beck and midfielder Mesut Ozil are set to win their first caps for Germany in Wednesday's friendly international against Norway in Dusseldorf.

Assistant coach Hansi Flick said Monday Hoffenheim right-back Beck, 21, and 20-year-old Werder Bremen midfielder Ozil would play some part in the game.

"We have called up Andi Beck and Mesut Ozil to see how they perform. We plan to play both of them," he said.

All the 20-man squad are fit including Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose who suffered a bruised thigh in Sunday's 3-1 Bundesliga win over Borussia Dortmund in which he scored twice.

The match against Norway is an important test for coach Joachim Loew's side ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein on March 28 and Wales on April 1.

Germany lead Group 4 and are well placed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Captain Michael Ballack called on for all-out effort and for the players to use the match to press their claims to be in the squad.

"We have started well (in the qualifying group) but know we haven't achieved anything yet," the Chelsea midfielder said. (dpa)
