Orissa Might Become the Next Industrial Capital of the NationIndustrial body ASSOCHAM is of the view that there is great potential for investment in Orissa and that it is one of the major sectors where there might be a lot of business found in the near future. They are of the expectancy that projects would fetch as much as Rs. 11.3 lakh in the near future. It is of the view that future is bright for tourism, electronics, ports, food processing as well as a number of other sectors.

There has been a growth seen of about 19% in the year round and this proves the potential of the growing industry. There are as many as 72 new proposals for investment and this has given rise to a dynamic and ever-increasing potential in the market.

“Attracting 574 live investment projects worth Rs 11.3 lakh Crore as of December 2010, Orissa has emerged as a lucrative destination and hotspot for investors”, ASSOCHAM's Regional Development Council Chairman Lalit Khaitan said.

It was revealed by Anirudh Dhoot, Chairman of ASSOCHAM's Council that with these sectors on the rise, the tourism as well as ports of the area will also be greatly benefitted. This means that Orissa is being looked upon as the next big thing and one must not be shocked if it someday soon turns out to become one of the major economic cities of the nation.
