A year after the launch of the free generic medicine supply scheme, the government of Rajasthan is now examining the viability of introducing free medical tests in all government hospitals.

The plan was revealed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during his keynote address "Universal Access to Essential Medicines in India" conference in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) has written a letter to Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, stating its opposition to the telecom department's plan to impose a one-time tax on operators for spectrum they hold.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has proposed that the government should charge for spectrum held by existing operators at the rates that new telecom operators will pay on airwaves that they will acquire in the auction scheduled for November this year.

According to the statistics shared by market research firm Net Applications, Mozilla's Firefox browser notched up to its second-rank spot again in the desktop browser market in August, pushing Google's Chrome browser to the third spot.

As per Net Applications' data, Firefox accounted for 20.05 percent of desktop browser market in August, overtaking Chrome's 19.13 percent share during the month. The August figures clearly brought Firefox in a firm second place, which had been grabbed by Chrome relatively recently.

Norway-based browser maker Opera Software has recently released the Opera 12.10 beta version, which has - as per the company's claims - been designed for giving the Opera browser a notably improved look on all high-resolution displays, including the Retina Displays of the Mac.

According to Opera Software, the 12.10 beta version - which was dubbed version 12.50 in previous test stages - boasts the addition of Google's SPDY and the Web Socket standard and other supporting technologies, with the key objective of ensuring speedier Web communications.
