Accountancy firm, Baker Tilly has approached rival RSM Tenon over a possible takeover bid from the company that might impact shareholder value.

The shares of RSM Tenon fell as much as 30 per cent after it announced expression of interest from Baker Tilly. RSM Tenon is struggling with its £80 million debt burden from taking out other enterprises around the UK. The company is currently the seventh largest accountancy firm in the UK and has three offices in Scotland.

AG Barr has indicated that it might be looking to acquire the Lucozade and Ribena brands that re being sold by pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline.

The manufacturer of Irn-Bru has reported strong trading and is now looking to expand its offerings. Roger White, the Chief Executive Officer of AG Barr said that the company’s trading performance is better than rival Britvic. AG Barr, which offers Tizer and fruit juice range Rubicon, was still keen to join the larger industry player in the country.

Los Angeles, July 25 : A contest for Taylor Swift's fan was arranged by Boston's Kiss FM, but it got cancelled Thursday after it was revealed that a 39-year-old man won the grand title.

The radio station updated its contest page with a statement clarifying the reasoning for their decision, reports eonline. com.

"Disappointingly, we have determined that the integrity of the 'Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan' contest has been compromised. In accordance with our contest rules, effective immediately, the contest has been terminated. We apologise to all of our loyal listeners who have participated," read the statement.

Jaipur, July 25 : The weekly iron and folic acid (IFA) supplementation programme of the government will cover 13 crore adolescent boys and girls across the country, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said Thursday.

Under the programme, along with IFA tablets, adolescents and their families will be given information and counselling on nutrition and health education, Azad said inaugurating the programme in Rajasthan at a function organised at Birla Auditorium here. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also present.

New Delhi, July 25 : The 2014 general elections would take place as scheduled and there was no question of holding them earlier, Congress leader and union minister Manish Tewari said Thursday.

"There are still nine months to the elections.. it will be held as scheduled," Tewari, the union information and broadcasting minister, said here.

On a possible tie-up with the Janata Dal-United (JD-U), which has broken up with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA, Tewari smiled and said: "Let us see" but refused to elaborate.
