New Delhi, July 15 : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will take into account the recent increase in inflation while formulating the policy later this month, Governor D. Subbarao said Monday.

“Of course, we will take into account the inflation numbers,” Subbarao told reporters after meeting Finance Minister P. Chidambaram at his North Block office here.

According to data released by the commerce ministry here, wholesale price based inflation snapped fourth months of easing trend and increased to 4.86 percent in June as compared to 4.7 percent in the previous month.

Monrovia (Liberia), July 15 : Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has awarded scholarships to five Liberians to study for a Master's degree in engineering at the O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU) for the next academic year, company spokesperson Rashika Kaul told IANS.

The students, nominated by the Liberian ministry of education, underwent an online entrance examination as well as interview by faculty members of JGU.

The company awards scholarships to students from countries across Africa where it operates.

Singapore, July 15 : Singapore retail sales in May rose 3.2 percent on year, reversing the adjusted 0.3 percent year-on-year fall in April, the city-state's Department of Statistics said.

The retail sales still grew by 3.1 percent on year after excluding motor vehicles, reported Xinhua.

The figure was released Monday after the better-than-expected GDP growth of 3.7 percent on year in the second quarter.
