Mumbai, Aug 9 : India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves decreased by $2.99 billion to $277.16 billion for the week ended Aug 2, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The reserves had increased by $960.2 million to $280.16 billion for the week ended July 26.

The foreign currency assets (FCA) - the biggest component of the forex reserves - fell by $2.15 billion at $249.89 billion, the weekly statistical supplement of the central bank shows.

The FCA had grown by $914.1 million at $252.05 billion in the previous week.

Keeping the theme of Independence Day Aug 15 in mind, Lauren will dedicate her performance to the nation's Mahatma. She will dance to the tunes of "Raghupati raghav raja ram".

Mumbai, Aug 9 : Two- and three-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Friday reported a marginal increase of 1.50 percent in its net profit which stood at Rs. 51.87 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs. 51.10 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

The Hosur-based company's total income, however, decreased by 4.82 percent at Rs. 1,760.18 crore in the quarter under review from Rs. 1,849.38 crore in the same period of 2012-13.

Sydney, Aug 9 : A special iPhone device can be used to quickly detect heart rhythm problems and help prevent strokes, say researchers.

Experts from the University of Sydney said the cheap device, known as the AliveCor Heart Monitor for iPhone (iECG), was highly effective and accurate in screening patients with undiagnosed atrial fibrillation (AF).

The study was revealed Friday at the Australia and New Zealand Cardiac Society conference in Queensland, Xinhua reported.

The device was invented by an Australian scientist and a US cardiologist.
