"In LA, I always wear sunscreen. In Newcastle, I probably wear no makeup. There's nothing better than a comfy tracksuit, hair scraped up and no makeup."

Mumbai, August 13 : Banking as well as non-banking financial companies must be under a unified regulation of the central bank to prevent 2008 like crisis, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor D Subbarao said Tuesday.

Subbarao said there are strong inter-linkages between banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and a “unified regulation by the same regulator” was essential for financial stability.

The RBI governor's comment assume significance in view of the government's plan to take away the regulation of non-banking financial companies from the central bank and put it under a unified financial authority.

India's industrial output slipped for the second month in a row in June, raised apprehension that economic growth during the first quarter of current fiscal might have fallen short of the 5% mark.

While the GDP stats are yet to be released, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Monday announced that the country's industrial output slipped 2.2 per cent year-on-year in June. What makes matters even worse is the fact that industrial output had contracted 2 per cent in June last year.
