RBI looking into the issue of SBI shaming studentsChennai, Aug 28 : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is looking into the complaint against State Bank of India (SBI) for shaming students and their parents for defaulting on their education loan.

"RBI's assistant general manager Sharmila Sampath Kumar has sent me an email Aug 28 stating that the issue is receiving the attention of the central bank," K. Srinivasan, convenor, Education Loan Task Force (ELTF), told IANS here Wednesday.

"Britain has drafted a resolution condemning the attack by the Assad regime, and authorising all necessary measures under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter to protect civilians from chemical weapons," Xinhua reported citing a statement released by 10 Downing Street.

South Korean PM begins Sri Lanka visit

Jung-Hong-wonColombo, Aug 28 : South Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won arrived in Sri Lanka Wednesday for an official visit aimed at boosting relations and investment.

The three-day official visit Aug 28-30 will also see the prime minister visiting new areas of development in the island including a visit to the freshly expanded Colombo port, which is now the deepest harbour in South Asia, Xinhua reported citing a South Korean embassy statement.

This is the first official visit of a South Korean prime minister to Sri Lanka since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1977.

Toyota rolls out hybrid sedan from India plant

toyota-camry-hybridBangalore, Aug 28 : Japanese auto joint venture Toyota Kirloskar Motor Wednesday rolled out a new Camry hybrid sedan from its Bidadi plant, about 40 km from here.

"The indigenous version of Camry sedan makes India the ninth country for us to manufacture hybrid vehicles. As a pioneer in hybrid technology, we have sold around five million vehicles the world over," Toyota chief executive Hiroshi Nakagawa said on the occasion.

The hybrid version has 2.5 litre belt-less petrol engine with an electric motor and electronically controlled continuous variable transmission (E-CVT).
