Washington, Aug 31 : The consumer confidence in the US has dipped in August even as interest rates have gone up, says a consumer sentiment index.

The final reading of the consumer sentiment in August edged down to 82.1 from 85.1 in July, which was the highest since July 2007, according to the monthly Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan index released Friday, reports Xinhua.

Mumbai, Aug 31 : Prakash Jha’s socio-political thriller “Satyagraha” managed to gross Rs. 11.21 crore on its opening day. It is said to be the highest ever opening for the filmmaker.

Gold futures prices on Friday dropped below nearly 3 per cent to below Rs 33,000-level per 10 grams after the Forward Markets Commission (FMC) drastically increased margins on trading in gold futures in a bid to curb volatility in the prices of the precious metal.

Commodity market regulator FMC increased initial margin on gold futures from 4 per cent to 5 per cent, and also imposed an extra margin of 5 percent on gold, silver as well as crude oil. The increased rate of margin is scheduled to take effect on Monday, September 2.
