Violence erupts in Kolkata over murder of a Muslim youth

Kolkata, Sept 22 : Violence erupted in Kolkata on Saturday following the murder of a Muslim youth.

An irate mob of over hundred people clashed with police in the city, and also blocked roads after rumours spread of the murder.

Police had to resort to tear-gassing to bring the situation under control.

Two vehicles were burnt and property was damaged before the mob was dispersed by the police.

Nepal Maoists begin agitation to disrupt Constituent Assembly polls

Kathmandu, Sept 22 : The Maoist cadres on Saturday launched their agitation to disrupt the Constituent Assembly elections slated for November 22.

As part of their campaign, Maoists staged demonstrations in front of the Village Development Committee's (VDC) and municipal offices across the country today.

The Maoists had warned to disrupt the Constituent Assembly elections earlier this week after the Interim Government turned down the Maoist demand to declare the Himalayan nation as a republic immediately.

Country's first bio-metric ATM in Bangalore

Bangalore, Sept. 22 : Canara Bank has added another feather to its cap by taking technology beyond the periphery of the literate world.

The bank recently launched the country's first bio-metric Automated Teller Machines (ATM) at Devanahally near here which uses the fingerprint instead of PIN number.

The ATM was inaugurated by Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Deputy Governor Usha Thorat in the presence of Regional Director for Karnataka RBI, Devaki Muthukrishnan and Chairman and MD of Canara Bank, M B N Rao.
