Qantas A380Wellington, Sep 29 : The world's largest passenger aircraft- Airbus A380 superjumbo- is flying the world's longest air route from Sydney to Dallas.

According to Stuff.co.nz, the Qantas Sydney-Dallas route became the longest non-stop flight in the world late last year after Singapore Airlines ended its non-stop flights from Singapore to New York , a 19-hour slog that covered 16,700 kilometres on a four-engine Airbus A340-500.

The A380 superjumbo will take a little more than 15 hours to cover the Sydney- Dallas route at 13,800 kilometres.

Obama admits US underestimated threat posed by IS

Barack ObamaWashington, Sep 29 - United States President Barack Obama has reportedly admitted that the U. S. intelligence officials had "underestimated" the threat posed by the Islamic State (IS) and overestimated the Iraqi army's capacity to defeat the group.

While speaking at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundations 44th Annual Legislative Conference Phoenix Awards Dinner in Washington on Sunday, Obama said that the militants went "underground" after being crushed in Iraq and regrouped amid the Syrian civil war, reported Fox News.

ISRO to launch navigational satellite next month

IRNSSNew Delhi, Sept. 29 - Following the grand success of Mars Orbiter Mission, ISRO scientists will reportedly launch navigational satellite, IRNSS 1C, on October 10.

Out of the seven satellites planned for the formation of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, IRNSS 1C is the third one.

By next year all the seven satellites are planned to be in space.

IRNSS will provide Standard Positioning Service and Restricted Service with a position accuracy of better than 20 meters in the 1500 kilometers area covering the Indian peninsula.

Rs 1,500 crore deposited in banks under Jan Dhan Yojana: Modi

economyNew York : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that around Rs 1,500 crore has been deposited so far in banks under the Jan Dhan Yojana even though people could have opened new bank accounts with zero balance.

The ambitious 'Pradhan Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana' launched by the government last month, is aimed at opening at least one bank account for every family in the country in a period of less than six months.

Addressing about 20,000 NRIs at the Madison Square Garden here today, the Prime Minister said that about four crore new bank accounts have been opened already under the scheme.

He also noted that more than half of the families in the country does not have a bank account.

In the first study, 38 children prenatally exposed to chemotherapy were recruited from the International Network for Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy (INCIP) registry and assessed for mental development and cardiac health and their outcomes were compared to 38 control children who were not exposed to chemotherapy.
