Men more Vulnerable to Failing Memory than Women

A new study has found that men are more vulnerable to failing memory than women. The study also unveiled that almost everyone will face memory loss as they age.

With age, people’s memory skill and brain volume declines. The study researchers affirmed that it might be surprising that the deterioration has little to do with the accumulation of brain plaques that indicates about Alzheimer's disease.

The researchers with the study have challenged the existing view on the aging brain. It is said that when elderly start having memory lapses, it is considered to be an early sign of Alzheimer's disease. It is speculated that the problem is likely related to abnormal clumps of protein called beta-amyloid, which gets accumulated in the brain.

Massive Saltwater Ocean Present Beneath Surface of Ganymede

NASA has finally confirmed the speculations first made in the 1970s that water is present on Ganymede, the largest moon of our solar system.

Scientists used the Hubble telescope to study the movement of auroral lights around the Jupiter’s moon. Jim Green, Director of planetary science at NASA, was of the view that as they are exploring individual moons, they are finding more indications of the presence of water in abundance.

Green said that Ganymede has amazing auroras forming due to magnetic field. With the rotation of Jupiter, its magnetic field also shifts making Ganymede’s aurora to move from its position.

Color Technique opens Door for Researchers to Understand Life on Exoplanets

Researchers have claimed that the colors of an exoplanet could provide them significant help in understanding the kind of microbial life that exists on that alien world. The research team from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Germany has come up with a catalog detailing the colors of microbes on earth as a powerful way of detecting life on exoplanets and defining the likely form of that life.

The researchers led by Siddharth Hedge and Lisa Kaltenegger said the earth's reflection seen from space in the near-infrared suggests that oxygen is present in our atmosphere, and therefore gives rise to existence of life.
