Jon Hamm makes First Red Carpet Appearance since Recent Rehab Stint

American actor Jon Hamm made first read carpet appearance on Wednesday after completing a 30-day rehab program for alcohol abuse.

The 44-year-old actor was looking elegant in form wear and showed his rugged look at a Mad Men event. He was wearing an off-white jacked paired with crisp white shirt, black trousers and black bow tie.

On Tuesday, the television producer confirmed that he has recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. His AMC show Mad Men will start airing his seventh and last part that starts on April 5.

The actors looked happy and healthy at the Black & Red Ball at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, where celebration was on for the show's final seven episodes. He happily posed for pictures and took out time to sign autographs for fans.

FDA Permits Drug for Treatment of Inhalational Anthrax Cases

The US Food and Drug Administration has given green signal to Anthrasil, a drug meant to treat patients infected by inhalational anthrax.

The FDA said the drug officially named as Anthrax Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) will be used for treatment in combination with currently used antibacterial drugs. It is said that when patient starts exhibiting symptoms of the disease then it is considered to be too late.

But Anthrasil has been developed in such a way it would help anthrax victims even after they have started displaying symptoms. Inhalational anthrax is a rare form of the disease, which can happen after exposure to infected animals or through contaminated animal products.

Smoking can affect Unborn Babies: Study

Researchers have released some images, showing a baby grimacing in uterus immediately when the child's mother lights up a cigarette. Durham and Lancaster universities in the UK captured these four-dimensional ultrasound scans as part of a pilot study.

Lancaster University's professor Brian Francis said, "This is yet further evidence of the negative effects of smoking in pregnancy. Technology means we can now see what was previously hidden, revealing how smoking affects the development of the fetus in ways we did not realize".

The preliminary findings of the study stem from an analysis of 80 4-D ultrasound scans of 20 healthy fetuses. Out of these, four were carried by mothers who smoked an average of 14 cigarettes per day, whereas the remaining 16 were carried by nonsmokers.

Study suggests that Healthy, beetle-kill Forests pose similar Risks

According to a new study conducted by researchers from the University of Colorado, large wildfires are no more likely in forests hit by beetle infestation than in those that are healthy.

To conduct the study, which has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the researchers used federal maps. During the study, they covered the areas of western forests that were burned by wildfire three times. They also tried to figure out which areas of the location had been infested by pine beetles. According to the researchers, the areas with beetle-kill accounted for about 46% of the total region burned.
