Connecticut grabs a place in Top 10 for Tax Categories of Real Estate and Vehicles

According to a survey by WalletHub, there are only two states in the United States that rank in the top 10 in two key tax categories, real estate and vehicles, and Connecticut is one of them. WalletHub stated that the average car tax bill in Connecticut is more than $600 and the average real estate or home property tax bill in the state is over $3,000.

Rhode Island, officially the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, also ranked in the top 10 in both real estate and vehicles categories. Rob Kane, Republican member of the Connecticut Senate, said that the high taxes prove that the state has more state services than it should.

Shell to acquire BG Group in $70-billion deal

On Wednesday, Anglo-Dutch oil and gas company Royal Dutch Shell agreed to buy Britain's BG Group in a $70 billion cash and stock deal.

The acquisition marks the biggest deal of oil and gas industry in at least a decade. Shares of BG rallied 37% after purchase announcement.

The deal still needs to be approved by both firms' shareholders. BG Group shareholders will get 383 pence ($5.70) in cash, plus 0.4454 Shell B shares for each BG share.

In opening deals, the FTSE 100 index gained 37.1 points or 0.5% to 6,996.4, having closed 128.31 points higher yesterday. European markets were mixed, with the Dax 30 index in Frankfurt losing 0.2%.

Singapore Telecommunications Limited to buy Trustwave

Singapore Telecommunications Limited, also known as Singtel, is going to buy Trustwave, information Technology Company situated in the United States. According to reports, Singtel, which is Southeast Asia's largest telecommunications operator, will but Trustwave for about $810 million. It is the company's biggest acquisition outside the main telecoms sector.

The deal proves that the telecommunications company has decided to move away from being a pure-play telecoms company. Singtel pursues expansion in sectors like digital life that includes digital advertising and mobile video.

Workers get Opportunity due to Unfilled Jobs

In February, the job openings climbed to a 14-year high, and indicated that companies are optimistic about the prospects for sales and the economy on the heels of a recent setback.

The Labor Department report, on Tuesday, showed that the number of openings waiting to be filled have climbed by 168,000 to 5.13 million, the most since January 2001. Since November 2013, the dismissals have dropped to the lowest level.

February's more employment opportunities, led by construction companies, retailers and restaurants, have indicated that the labor market probably will keep on improving after a slowdown in March hiring. Decline in the number of Americans who have quit their jobs has showed that faster wage growth may yet take time to develop.

Twitter shares rise by 4% amid rumors regarding its acquisition

After rumors of acquisition of social network Twitter, the company stock gained nearly 4%. Earlier also, it was said that Twitter could be a target for acquisition. Some talked about the acquisition of the company by Google.

Twitter stock has gained over 46% for the year so far, moving slowly close to a 51-week high for the tech company.

On Tuesday, many shares of the company were trading hands on, and a volume of 30 million shares has been registered compared to the average of 18 million shares per day.

This year, there are options for growth of Twitter stock for April month. It has been suggested by the CBOE that Twitter is one of the firms whose options were increasing in volume in Tuesday market.

This is the 82nd year of National Beer Day celebration. Since 1933, brewing beer has gone through many changes.

On April 7, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt ended prohibition by signing a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer in the United States under certain guidelines. Since then, new breweries are popping up across the nation.

"I think the flavor profiles and some of the ingredients are definitely, I guess you could say are better, much more flavorful than they were", said Derek LLoyd the director of marketing for La Quinta Brewing Co.

In November 2013, the La Quinta Brewing Co. opened up with an aim to meet the increasing demand for craft beer. Lloyd said that overall, local people are embracing the breweries. But there is a major concern and that is of drought.
