DirecTV dropping Lowe campaign

Direct broadcast satellite service provider DirecTV has discontinued the ad campaign that has drawn complaints from rival Comcast Corporation.

Representatives of DirecTV said that they are thinking about dropping the Rob Lowe commercials in support of a new campaign. The major complaints are from Comcast. Comcast made claims for the Rob Lowe commercials and after considering the accusations made by Comcast, the National Advertising Division (NAD) suggested that DirecTV stop making some of the claims in the ads.

Mark Pincus to return to Zynga

Chief executive of Zynga, Don Mattrick, will be replaced by the company's founder and chairman Mark Pincus. Zynga provides social game services and was founded in July 2007. Mattrick has stepped down and this is not a surprise as Mattrick didn't succeed in turning around the situation of the company.

Zynga is not doing well in its financial performance. The company is making efforts in order to find a grip against Supercell (Clash of Clans), King (Candy Crush Saga) and Machine Zone (Game of War) in a mobile game market, which could reach $30 billion this year.

Police Officer charged for Murder of Black Man

Police officer Michael Slager killed Walter Scott, 50, on Saturday after shooting him five times. The police officer first shot him with a stun gun and fired at least eight shots as Scott was running away.

The police officer was charged for the murder of an unarmed black man on Tuesday. It could be clearly seen in a video that surfaced later after somebody captured it on a cellphone that Slager methodically shot the fleeing Scott in the back.

An analysis published in Columbia-based newspaper The State has indicated that South Carolina police officers have shot 209 suspects in the past five years. Nearly 100,000 residents reside in North Charleston and it's a city at the third position when it comes to a history of being lenient with its police officers.

California Woman having Cancer thrown out of Alaska Airlines flight

California woman having a type of blood cancer was not allowed to travel from Hawaii to San Jose on Monday. She and her family were asked to leave the Alaska Airlines flight before takeoff.

On Wednesday, Alaska Airlines confirmed that Elizabeth Sedway was asked to depart from the plane after airline employees consulted with a physician about her condition. Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said that they followed the company procedures and the advice of trained medical personnel in the case.

But they do regret the inconvenience caused to Sedway and her family. Egan added that they are carrying out a thorough investigation into the matter.

Sabra Dipping Company Voluntarily Recalls 30,000 Cases of its Hummus

On Wednesday, federal health officials and Sabra Dipping Company announced that the company has voluntarily recalled 30,000 cases of hummus across the nation. The recall has been made owing to possible Listeria contamination.

Last month, a routine sample of Sabra hummus from a store was tested positive for the Listeria monocytogenes. The US Food and Drug Administration said that there is no evidence that hummus has caused any problem to anyone.

"'The potential for contamination was discovered when a routine, random sample collected at a retail location on March 30th, 2015 by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes", said the company.

Number of Patients facing long wait at Veterans Affairs facilities has not dropped

An audit last summer revealed that Veterans Affairs clinic in El Paso had one of the nation's worst backlogs.

Although the clinic has struggled has tried to reduce wait times since audit, it still struggles to attract staff and build enough capacity to treat a large veteran population.

Also, after several efforts nationwide to lessen the wait times for veterans seeking health care, VA medical facilities across Texas have shown no progress.

According to federal data gathered by the Associated Press, nearly 66,000 medical appointments completed from September through February at VA facilities in Texas didn't meet the US Department of Veterans Affairs' goal to see patients within 30 days.
