Bank of America earns $3.4 billion Profit in First Quarter

According to recent earnings report shared by Bank of America, during the first three months of the current year, the financial services major has earned a profit of $3.4 billion. The latest results mark a turnaround from the loss, which was reported by the bank a year ago, when much higher legal costs were posted by it.

During the first quarter, the bank reported lower revenue since its income dropped in four of its five business segments. However, it also posted much lower legal expenses compared to a year ago. During that time, an agreement with the Federal Housing Finance Agency led to adverse results on one time charge.

Netflix reports surge in New Subscribers

On Wednesday, streaming media company Netflix reported a record jump in subscribers in the first quarter of 2015. According to the company, the jump has pushed its streaming television service membership above 60 million.

According to the company’s report, the service has surpassed the 40 million mark in the United States and the 20 million mark across the world. In the report, the company stated that the unprecedented jump has pushed the number of subscriptions to its streaming television service more than 62 million overall.

After the report by Netflix, shares of the Los Gatos, California headquartered company jumped about 13% in after-hours trade. The company reported profit in the first quarter of the year, but it was dragged down by currency changes.

Parents with Autistic Children receive Less Proactive Responses

A large survey has revealed a concerning difference in terms of response from a provider for children’s health. The survey found that parents with autistic children received a passive response from provider when they raise concerns with regard to children’s development.

However, such was not the case with parents whose children showed signs of developmental delay. Katharine Zuckerman from Doembecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health and Sciences University said that they adjusted corvarities.

After adjusting them, they noticed that parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) had 14% fewer proactive response than parents of children with intellectual or developmental disorder.

Divorcees at Increased risk of facing Heart Attacks

According to a new research, there is a possibility that divorcees have more heart attacks as compared to their peers who stay married.

For the study, about 15,827 people have been analyzed by researchers. According to the researchers, it has been found that women were worst affected and there was a decline in the risk if they married again. The study that published in the journal Circulation said that chronic stress, associated to divorce, and also had a long-term impact on the body.

The British Heart Foundation asked for more research before it is classed as a major heart risk. According to the researchers, it is already known that the death of a close loved one can really increase the risk of a heart attack.

Bernanke to Become Senior Adviser to Hedge Fund Citadel Investment Group

Ben Bernanke, former chairman of the US Federal Reserve will soon join hedge fund Citadel Investment Group. According to the New York Times, Bernanke will take up the role of senior adviser.

Bernanke is going to offer his analysis of global economic and financial issues to Citadel's investment committees. Bernanke told the New York Times that he was sensitive to the public's concerns about the "revolving door between Wall Street and Washington and chose to go to Citadel, in part, because it is not regulated by the Federal Reserve and He won't be doing lobbying of any sort."
