Moscow  - Magna and Sberbank, prospective majority owners of troubled carmaker Opel, are considering a joint-venture with Russian vehicle manufacturer Avtovaz, the business daily Kommersant reported Wednesday.

The president of Russian state-controlled Sberbank, German Gref, was quoted by the paper as saying that a new firm could be producing six million vehicles annually within five years.

"We will be taking the decision in the next few months," Gref said.

Mumbai, June 17 : Addressing a news conference here this evening, Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja’s wife, Anupam, said he was being framed and denied that her husband had ever confessed to sleeping or having consensual sex with their 18-year-old maid.

Maintaining that Shiney was an innocent man, Anupam said the rape charge was all rubbish.

"He has not made any statement. He never made the statement of confession and he obviously not made the statement. Every day in the newspaper I read different versions of everything. Truth has only on version and the version is he is innocent,” she said.

Beijing  - China has ordered local governments to buy products and services from domestic firms where possible, according to a notice seen on Wednesday, in a move that some foreign firms regard a "buy local" policy.

The notice from the National Development and Reform Commission and eight other ministries requires local governments to purchase from Chinese firms if the products and services are available from them.
