Scientists found that a mixture of olive oil and water can be adjusted to change the system they come in contact with acids present in the stomach.

To come to the conclusion, scientists from the Institute of Food Research, Norwich, and the University of Nottingham, developed two kinds of the mixture and added some stabilizers commonly used in the food industry.

Lima  - The leader of Peru's indigenous community, Alberto Pizango, has taken refuge in the Nicaraguan embassy in Lima after clashes between police and indigenous demonstrators.

The diplomatic representatives of the leftist Central American country informed the Peruvian foreign ministry that Pizango was at the embassy, Peru's Prime Minister Yehude Simon said Monday.

Peruvian justice officials were conducting a manhunt for Pizango after clashes between police and Indio demonstrators left dozens of people dead. He is threatened with 35 years in prison.

Tokyo  - Tokyo stocks fell Tuesday as investors sold shares to lock in profits from the previous day's gains.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average declined 16.93 points, or 0.17 per cent, to 9,848.7 in morning trading after the index closed the previous day's session at an eight-month high.

The broader-based Topix index was also down 0.71 points, or 0.08 per cent, at 926.18.

Pattani, Thailand  - A Thai army spokesman on Tuesday denied that authorities were behind a brutal attack on a mosque that left 11 people dead and 13 wounded.

Six unidentified assailants wearing ski masks opened fire Monday evening on both entrances of a mosque while about 100 Thai Muslims were attending evening prayers in the Cho Ai-rong district of Narathiwat Province, 750 kilometres south of Bangkok, killing 10 people on the spot, army spokesman Colonel Prinya Chaidilok said.

Another person died in hospital.

Hong Kong  - Two bodyguards protecting the daughter of Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe will not be prosecuted for allegedly roughing up two photographers in Hong Kong, officials said Tuesday.

Government lawyers have decided the male and female bodyguards hired to mind 20-year-old Bona Mugabe, who is at university in Hong Kong, behaved as they did because they were "genuinely concerned for the safety of Miss Mugabe."
