T. rex may have indulged in cannibalistic meals

Researchers upon analysis of bite marks on fossilized bones have come up with new findings. As per it, the prehistoric super predator, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, might have eaten its own kind as well as had gorged on other preys.

The chewed bone dating back 66 million years ago found in Lance Formation, Wyoming, owing to which the researchers have come to know about the cannibalistic behavior of T-rex will be presented at the annual Geological Society of America meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.

Antarctic Ice Sheet is adding More Ice than It is losing: Study

Earlier, it was revealed that Antarctica is losing ice due to global warming, but a new NASA study is suggesting that the continent is actually gaining ice. The study used satellite data and found that Antarctica gained approximately 112 billion tons of ice every year from 1992 to 2001. From 2003 to 2008, the continent gained 82 billion tons of ice, the study revealed.

Jay Zwally, a glaciologist from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and lead author of the study, said the continent is actually gaining ice sheets in its east part and in the interior of West Antarctica. Regions like the Antarctic Peninsula and the Thwaites and Pine Island are continuously losing ice due to global warming, Zwally added.

Researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison claimed that they have created a phototransistor, which is fastest and most responsive flexible phototransistor till now. According to the researchers, their newest innovation is a huge breakthrough in digital imagining sector.

The most responsive phototransistor was created by Jack Ma, the Lynn H. Matthias Professor, and a fellow researcher, Jung-hun Seo. A phototransistor senses, collects light information and then converts it into an electrical charge. Wavelength of that light and force decides the quality of electrical charge.

Breast cancer rates among black women constantly increasing in comparison to white women

According to a new report, breast cancer rates among black women are constantly increasing, coinciding with rates among white women and finishing a gap that had prevailed for decades.

Carol DeSantis, of the American Cancer Society and lead author of the new report, said that it is an awful condition for black women. The article was published on Thursday in Cancer Journal for Clinicians.

The researchers found that the black and white rates coincided at approximately 135 cases per 100,000 women, in 2012. A decade earlier, the white and black rates were at 132 and 124.

Oregon Girl contracts Bubonic plague

A teenager has been diagnosed with bubonic plague, said Oregon officials. Though the plague is rare, authorities are baffled by the rise in the cases this year. Officials think that the girl has suffered from the plague due to a flea bite.

As per health officials, the girl went on a hunting trip on October 16 near Heppner, which is near the foothills of the Blue Mountains in the northeastern part of Oregon. During that trip, the girl has been infected.

On October 21, the girl fell sick and was later hospitalized. The girl continues to be in the intensive-care unit. Health officials have said that this plague can be treated with antibiotics if caught before. It is an infectious disease and its carriers are wild rodents and can be transmitted to fleas.

Hormel Foods recalls 153 cases of peanut butter over metal shavings concern

Owing to concerns over metal shavings’ presence in peanut butter jars, Hormel Foods Sales LLC has decided to recall the product. The company is recalling 153 cases of peanut butter made at its Little Rock, Arkansas, factory.

On Thursday, the company said that 153 cases of reduced fat creamy Skippy brand peanut butter might have small pieces of metal, which were discovered during an in-line magnet check. The company does not have idea as to how the metal shavings came into the product. The 16.3 ounce jars have been shipped to places like Publix, Target and Wal-Mart distribution centers in Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Caroline, Delaware and Arkansas.
