Kargil (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Oct. 2 : A first of its kind initiative, where a government owned apricot processing unit is providing employment to scores of youths in Jammu and Kashmir's Kargil district.

In order to boast this fruit and generate employment in the district, cooperative society of Kargil started its first apricot processing unit in which they produce apricot jam, oil and juices.

"This government owned factory is useful for the people as we make jams, oils and juices here. We brings apricots from the nearby places and then we make jams, other things out of it. It is big benefit for the students, who have left their studies," said Rehaana Mathur, a yound employee.

"If this factory works for many more years then if would benefit a lot many people," she added.

Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), Oct. 2 : A crocodile entered the Gangapura village in Etawah and created panic and commotion among the villagers recently. The villagers charged after it with sticks and lamps but the reptile was eventually rescued by the Forest Department officials.

The crocodile which entered the Gangapura was more than five feet long. The villagers got scared and attacked the reptile. A villager informed the Society for Conservation of Nature on Friday. The Environment specialists and Forest Department personnel rescued the crocodile and left it in the Chambal River.

Muzaffarabad (PoK), Oct. 2 : Kotli residents in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) recently took to the streets to protest against the atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The agitation was launched against extra-judicial killings, fake encounters and brutalities committed on pro-Azadi leaders, who disagree with the Pakistan State.

The angry mob raised slogans such as "Butcher of Kashmiris, Pakistan Army", "Dogs are more loyal than ISI".

The protesters demand an independent investigation into the murder of Arif Shahid, a major Kashmiri nationalist leader, chairman of the All Parties National Alliance (APNA), and president of the Jammu Kashmir National Liberation Conference (JKNLC).

London [England], Oct. 1 : An advance drug that utilizes a human-made virus to treat later stage skin cancer, Melanoma has been approved for use.

The novel medicine, which doubles average survival time for people with inoperable melanoma, is to be provided to patients for whom other drugs do not work, after NHS (National Health Service) recommended it for immediate use, reports Daily Mail.

The therapy, known as T-VEC, works by infecting and killing cancer cells with a genetically-modified form of the herpes virus.

The drug also harnesses the power of the body's own immune system and directs it against tumours.

Remarkably, it does this without harming healthy human cells, as a result having fewer side effects than chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.

WashingtonD.C [USA], Oct.1 (ANI): A recent research at Rush University Medical Center recognized pathologic protein in the brain which may play a larger role in the development of clinical Alzheimer's disease.

Author of the study, Bryan James, said the finding could help researchers to understand the cause of memory loss and lead to new ways to approach studying Alzheimer's disease.

"Our study found that when the main characteristic pathologies of Alzheimer's disease, plaques and tangles, were mixed with a pathologic protein called TDP-43 in the brain, the combination was more likely to result in diagnosed Alzheimer's dementia than plaques and tangles alone," he said.

London [England], Oct 01 : Boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has reportedly tested positive for cocaine and faced being stripped of his title belts, leaving his career hanging in the balance.

According to the Guardian, ESPN quoted a letter from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), in which the 28-year-old was found to have traces of cocaine in a test carried out a day before he pulled out of his re-arranged rematch with Wladimir Klitschko citing mental health problems.

When contacted further VADA president Margaret Goodman said that the agency wouldn't be commenting on story and that they "do not release results publicly unless requested by the athlete".
