Sachin To Team Up With UNICEF
Legendry Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is all set to join a new team. Yes, you heard it right.
In order to create awareness about hand washing behaviour among parents and school children, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has decided to take the services of Sachin Tendulkar. UNICEF has declared October 15, as global hand washing day.
According to a media release by UNICEF, the Master-blaster batsman will feature in a public service announcement, asking the students to wash their hands for better health and hygiene environment. The advertisement will soon be aired on television in 14 regional Indian languages which will target students in more than sixty lakhs schools across the country.
Speaking on this, an elated Tendulkar said, “I wanted to be a part of this campaign, because washing hands with soap can keep children safe and healthy and protect them against deadly diseases.”
The campaign marks the part of the International Year of Sanitation 2008.
