Field Marshal Manekshaw seriously ill

Wellington, June 26 : Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw is seriously ill and is undergoing treatment at a military hospital in Wellington.

According to sources, a special medical team and experts from Delhi are looking after 94-year-old Manekshaw, who has been undergoing treatment in the hospital here for the last few months.

Most of his immediate family members are present here, sources added.

The eighth Chief of the Army Staff, who led the Indian Army during the 197l operations against Pakistan, which led to the creation of Bangladesh and the surrender of more than 90000 Pakistanis in East Pakistan, was India's first Field Marshal and was endearingly called 'Sam Bahadur'. (ANI)
