Florida teen charged with practicing medicine without license
Malachi Love-Robinson possessed all the accessories of a medical practice, including an office, stethoscope and a lab coat. Authorities said that what he didn’t have a medical license.
The Florida teen has been charged with practicing medicine without a license and theft as he had allegedly conducted an exam on an undercover agent, taking nearly $3,500 from an 86-year-old woman looking for stomach pain treatment. Also, he has been accused of stealing three checks from her, cashing them for nearly $2,800.
A day after arrest, Love-Robinson was released on $21,000 bail on Wednesday. In a brief phone interview, he told The Associated Press that those were only allegations.
Love-Robinson called night news conference on Wednesday and reached half hour late. He said that his attorneys have been putting in efforts to solve the charges and that he is expecting that the community will pray for him. He refused to entertain any queries.
Palm Beach County sheriff reported that on Tuesday, an undercover agent visited Love-Robinson’s office, the New Birth New Life Medical Center. Love-Robinson was attired in a white lab coat and had a stethoscope around his neck.
The agent told him that she had sore throat, lethargy and sneezing. He noted her temperature and checked her lungs and heart, using the stethoscope. He told her that she was suffering from allergies and must follow an over-the-counter medication.
The report said Love-Robinson told her that he was a homeopathic medicine doctor and mentioned that he had a medical doctor on staff for antibiotics’ prescription. She gave a signal to other detectives who got into office and arrested the teenager.
Detectives have also cited the Anita Morrison’s case, who filed a complaint in which she alleged that Love-Robinson visited her house five times in December after she contacted him online for stomach pains treatment. Love-Robinson told Morrison that she had arthritis and provided her with vitamins, charging $3,494 that she paid using check.
