Buzz Aldrin posts image of customs form on Twitter

According to reports, a photo has been posted by Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 astronaut on Twitter that shows "customs form" permitting him to enter the United States following his journey to the surface of the moon nearly 46 years ago.

The form looks like a normal declaration form that one might fill out while returning from a trip abroad. It shows "moon rocks and moon dust samples" to be carried as cargo from the first manned mission to the surface of moon. However, as per space historians, the humorous customs form is not real.

According to NASA's History Office, "It is most likely that it [the customs form] was created by the Customs Service's District Director for Hawaii, and the astronaut signatures were auto-penned onto it sometime later in the summer of 1969 at NASA Headquarters".

It seems the form was signed by three Apollo 11 astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Aldrin.

On July 16, 1969, the three astronauts started their mission to the moon from Cape Canaveral, Florida and returned to Earth after eight days of their landing on moon. As per reports, the customs form is showing flight number of the crew as "Apollo 11" with their departure was shown as "moon."

According to NASA spokesman Rob Navias, at present, astronauts who return from the International Space Station (ISS) do not have to fill out customs forms to return to the United States, even when they land in Kazakhstan.
