Pawar to inaugurate international conference on bamboo prospects
New Delhi, Apr 15 : Union Minister for Agriculture, Food and Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs Sharad Pawar will inaugurate a three-day International Conference on 'Improvement of Bamboo Productivity and Marketing for Sustainable Livelihood' here today.
The National Bamboo Mission of the Ministry of Agriculture is organising the conference.
A large number of scientists, experts, farmers, entrepreneurs, NGOs, besides the
Government officials from all the State in the country will participate in the conference.
Scientist and experts from at least 35 countries have confirmed their participation in this conference.
The proposed conference will provide a platform for scientific interaction among participants from various countries through presentations and display of products, and generate awareness about various technologies and their applications.
It will also offer an excellent opportunity for detailed discussions on investment potential and global business avenues in bamboo sector.
The major topics that will discuss at the conference are mass production and certification of quality planting stock, post-harvest management and storage, new generation value-added products, investment potential and marketing, cultivation and stand management and policy issues. (ANI)
