Rupee getting the image makeoverOn Thursday the government approved a new sign for our Indian rupee which shall be utilized from now onwards to depict the Indian currency in all scribed and electronic messages universally.

The symbol merges the Roman note ‘R’ and it’s equal in Devnagari which is a script dedicated in Hindi and in some different North Indian languages as well that were the derivative from Sanskrit.

The symbol, that reinstates the often used abridged appearance of rupee like ‘Rs’ or ‘INR’, that shall take approximately two years to execute it fully taking into consideration the time required to renew different software and computer keyboards.

So the image makeover is all set to place the rupee in the league of currencies just like UK’s pound sterling, US’ dollar and the Japanese Yen which are recognized by a symbol.

With this endeavor, the Indian rupee shall also be witnessed as a unique entity from its name in the partnering nations such as Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, where only rupee or Rupiah are in fashion.
