Facebook Announces New Tools

Facebook Announces New ToolsFacebook founder Mark Zuckerberg introduced a box of new tools, which he said will expand the social networking phenomenon to each and every corner of the cyberspace.

This declaration was made during a conference for Facebook developers called F8, in which Mark revealed that the world's biggest social networking site has over 400 million registered users, comprising 100 million who make use of Facebook Connect, the company's online identity technology that permits users to use their profile on thousands of other internet sites.

During March 2010, Facebook topped Google to become the most-visited website in the United States, and the new tools unveiled by Zuckerberg should help it widen that supremacy.

Known as Open Graph, Zuckerberg said, "The new technology is the most transformative thing we've done for the web."

He further explained that it will let partner websites to leverage the user's social connections to make the site more relevant to the person and their social network.

Zuckerberg added that the novel system would also comprise a "like button", which partner sites can set in and which will permit Facebook users to rate the content. He anticipated that in the first 24 hours of the technology going live the new buttons would be utilized more than 1 billion times. (With Inputs from Agencies)
