Mumbai, Oct 29 : Metals mining major Sterlite Industries reported a net profit of Rs. 1,240.33 crore for the quarter ended Sep 30, a 28-percent drop when compared to Rs. 1,720.61 crore earned in the like quarter last fiscal.

Total income of the company stood at Rs. 6,129 crore for the quarter under review, a decrease of about 7.7 percent from the Rs. 6,810 crore it logged in the previous corresponding quarter.

Earnings per share stood at Rs. 11.83 per equity share compared to Rs. 18.02 per share in the corresponding period last year.(IANS)
