Revolutionary double blade bat to make its debut in OZ T20
Sydney: The double blade bats are all set to revolutionize the cricket world. For the first time, New South Wales (NSW) batsman David Warner and Aiden Blizzard of Victoria will use these bats in Australia's Twenty20 tournament.
The new bats are considered to give batsman an edge in some way or the other in the shortest version of the game.
Earlier on Monday, pinch-hitting batsman Warner tried out the new bat for the first time at the SCG nets.
Speaking on the utility of double blade shots, Warner said, "Generally when I'm playing the reverse I'm swapping hands, and now I don't really have to, so it's going to be better. It gives you a couple of extra seconds."
The NSW batsman has recently signed an agreement with the Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils worth more than USD 250,000. Warner further said that he would use the new bat out in New South Wales' Twenty20 match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval. Meanwhile, Aiden Blizzard of Victoria would use the new blade against WA at the MCG on Thursday.
Experts feel that the back of the bat could come in handy while going for a reverse sweep or reach forward and scoop the ball over the fielder.
However, Warner feels the other way. "If people think it's going to be an advantage to batsmen, I have to disagree. The person who is using the timber is in control, so I just see it as another shot for other people to try as well," said the batsman.
