Benazir seeks Sharif help against Poll rigging
Islamabad, Dec 27: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Benazir Bhutto has sought the cooperation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on a joint strategy to counter the possible rigging of the January 8 elections.
The two former PM’s discussed the issue over phone on Tuesday night, the Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.
Bhutto also criticized the government ban on live transmission of election rallies, saying that it exposed the government’s panic.
Inflation, unemployment and lawlessness bred terrorism and extremism, she warned.
“Pakistan is facing a grave threat from extremism. The nation should join hands with the PPP to get rid of extremism,” she told PPP activists at a Wah Cantt rally. (ANI)
