No distributors for Heath Ledger’s final flick
Melbourne, Mar 04 : Although late Hollywood actor Heath Ledger recently won an Oscar for his portrayal of `The Joker' in `The Dark Knight', his final flick `The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' has not been able to find any distributors.
It seems that the publicity surrounding Heath's Oscar win has no affect on the distributors, as `The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus' if facing difficulty finding American distributors.
Recent reports published by the Hollywood Reporter suggested that the difficulty occurred due to director Terry Gilliam and his tendency to stray away from commercial audiences for the film''s uncertain future, saying distributors would "have a hard time with marketing".
"Gilliam has grown more experimental in recent years with such fare as Tideland and The Brothers Grimm. Doctor Parnassus as a Ledger film risks running a word-of-mouth problem with general audiences who are not accustomed to that kind of material," New. com. au quoted the report as saying.
However, a production company called Lionsgate hit back at the claims, stating that the flick is still in post-production.
"As soon as there is a finished film, it will be screened, for the first time, to US distributors ... so that they can see exactly what they are acquiring," a spokesman added. (ANI)
