Nissan looking for yet another local partner
Be it the unsuccessful partnership with M&M for Logan or the branding and marketing issues that the company has already faced for its ultra low cost car with Bajaj, but Nissan is very bullish on its success in the Indian market and is on hunt for yet another local partner for its small car dreams.
The company said that the plan is to develop a small car between the Micra (which is expected to enter India by May this year) and the ultra low cost car being developed in alliance with Bajaj Auto. The company is also developing a small car with Ashok Leyland which will compete with Maruti's Alto.
However, for the recent partnership, the company is aiming to scout for a new partner rather than one of the old partners. The ultra low cost car is expected to be launched by 2012 in the Indian market.
While Carlos Ghosn, CEO, Renault has ruled out the possibility of withdrawing Nissan from the Indian market, he explained that both the partners (Renault & Mahindra) are looking at ways to make a product a success in Indian market by making the desired changes in the product.
