Newly found crustacean named after Elton John

It has been reported that a critter that has been discovered recently in Indonesian reef was named in honor of Elton John, who is a music icon. L. eltoni, was untied within another invertebrate of the sea in "commensal association".

"Commensal association" is a parasitic association, in which the host gets no harm or benefit. The question arises that why the crustacean was named in honor of a famous singer.

As per James Thomas from the Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography in Florida, he named the species after Sir Elton John for the reason that he has listened to John's music in his lab during his entire career in research.

According to Thomas, "So, when this unusual crustacean with a greatly enlarged appendage appeared under my microscope after a day of collecting, an image of the shoes Elton John wore as the 'Pinball Wizard' came to mind".

The finding has been published in the journal Zookeys. Following the finding of the critter, research team was informed by some scientists that the L. eltoni had come as an invasive creature.
