Nasscom aiming to create 10,000 start-ups during next decadeNasscom, the representative industry body for India's IT and ITeS industry, has initiative a programme aimed at enabling the launch of 10,000 start-ups during the coming ten years in the country.

The industry body has joined hands with corporates, multinationals, angel investors, accelerators, and consultants to create a supply chain that would help establish 15 billion-dollar companies during the coming ten years. Indian Angel Network (IAN) founder Saurabh Srivastava said that the initiative would make sure that the funding and support exists at the right place for the technology sector so that the next wave of successful companies are established in the country.

A host of leading firms have joined the initiatives including Google, Microsoft, Nasscom, Zinnov consulting, Chennai Angels, Harvard Angels, Hyderabad Angels, Mumbai Angels, Silicon Valley bank, accelerators
91Springboards, IAN Incubator, Microsoft Accelerator, The Hatch, The Morpheus, and Venture Nursery among several others.

Nasscom said that the new initiative would aim at several activities including entrepreneurship, building entrepreneurial capabilities at a large scale and also provide early stage support through incubation mentorship and angel funding for the technology sector firms in India. Nasscom president Som Mittal believes that the initiative would have an impact on employment, GDP, innovation and entrepreneurship indices. He also said that the it is one of the largest initiatives by the industry body and it will help in achieving the industry vision of reaching $300 billion by 2020.
