NASA's new Experience Curiosity website helps users gain insight into Mars
You can view Mars through the eyes of NASA's Curiosity Rover, thanks to new Experience Curiosity website. It means you do not need to embark on the Mars One Mission to gain insight into the red planet.
A new simulation called Mars trek was unveiled by NASA this week. All you need to get the amazing view of Mars is an Internet connection and a computer. The launch of the program marks the three-year-anniversary of Curiosity's Mars landing.
Mars Trek is an application similar to Google Earth and allows you to access high-quality visualizations of the planet and review over 50 years of Mars data.
Experience Curiosity was also unveiled by NASA along with Mars Trek. It allows users to know about the role of the Curiosity rover and get access to the actual data collected by it.
"This tool has opened my eyes as to how we should first approach roaming on another world, and now the public can join in on the fun", said Jim Green, director of NASA's Planetary Science Division in Washington, in a statement.
He added that a great progress has been made on the journey to Mars. Joint efforts by humans and robots will aid in planning Mars missions and identify ideal landing sites in addition to help citizens explore space.
Mars Trek will prove to be a great help for researchers to examine and select candidate sites for the first human exploration mission to Mars in the 2030's.
