NASA’s Latest Photographs of Ceres show 'Bright Spots'
Latest photographs of the dwarf planet Ceres show distinctive smaller spots radiating out from larger bright spots. The luminous entities have left scientists baffled. However, they have managed to narrow it down to ice, salt, or perhaps a volcano or geyser.
There are others as well who believe that the bright spots could be artificial constructs. However, chances are high for things to become clear by the time the Dawn mission completes.
The latest images of Ceres were captured on June 9. A group of bright spots around spot was originally photographed by the Hubble Telescope in 2004. A white spot appeared in that photo, but as the Dawn spacecraft has now gone within 2,700 miles of Ceres surface, the one spot has increased to several ones and a reflection feature is now being noticed in those spots.
"At least eight spots can be seen next to the largest bright area, which scientists think is approximately 6 miles (9 kilometers) wide. A highly reflective material is responsible for these spots -- ice and salt are leading possibilities, but scientists are considering other options, too", said NASA.
Geyser, volcanoes, and highly reflective rocks are among other options. One YouTube user has said that the bright spots in the NASA photos prove the existence of high-tech alien civilizations on Ceres. The person said that the patterns of city lights as seen from space are resembled by the array of spots.
