NASA to Celebrate 100th Anniversary on March 3
It has been more than 100 years for the establishment of NASA, which was originally formed as the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, or NACA, on March 3, 1915. NACA was created after concerns were raised in the US for becoming second in line behind Europe in aviation technology,
With its inception, the field of aeronautics began to make a series of technological advancements. NACA was converted in National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, in 1958 to look into space programs, aeronautics and the advancement of aerospace technology.
Leaders, directors and researchers of NASA were none other than great minds of NACA, including famous space explorers, such as Neil Armstrong, Robert Gilruth, Chris Kraft and many others.
The great efforts made by NASA researchers led the space agency claim the title of being the first to set foot on the Moon with Apollo program of 1969. NASA was pumped up by the achievement and launched several space probes to explore the moon, various other planets and the expanses of the solar system. Not only this, NASA also set the pace for the world in space technology by launching space application satellites.
NASA was basically formed in response to the Soviet Union’s launch of their Sputnik 1 satellite in 1957. Over the years, NASA not only gave the Soviets a run for their money, but also came up with space programs that now include important unmanned missions to Mars. A partnership with Microsoft’s HoloLens can provide you access to such a space program in your own living room.
NACA personnel had always thought of space travel, and it became a reality when it was transformed into NASA. There is no denying the fact that foundation provided by NACA has helped NASA create new types of air vehicles and advanced space technology.
