Nano to enter luxury league costs Rs 1 crore

Tata NanoAuto design firm DC is all set to unveil the redesigned version of the world's cheapest car Tata Nano within the next two months which would cost around Rs 1 crore.

DC Designs Promoter Dilip Chhabria said, "The Rs 1 crore Nano will be ready for public unveiling within the next two months ... we will make one car to begin with but if there is more demand than we will make additional units."

He said the company had already invested more than 90% of the cost in the making of the car. Not expecting much demand for the car at such a high price, he said that the car is more a case of showcasing India's prowess in the global automotive design market’.

Without giving out much detail he expressed that Tata motors is not involved in the redesigning process and high-end technologies fitted in the car and the amount of work justifies the cost. “We didn't display the car at the Auto Expo because the work hasn't been completed yet. However, there is a lot of speculation and eagerness among the media to see the car,” he said.

Many believe that a movie star would purchase the car as a fashion accessory. DC has linked future production of the expensive nano to the demand it generates.

The company today showcased DC Imperator, its Super SUV fitted with 28 inch wheels and powered by Audi's 6.0 litre V12 TDI engine.
