Montana Home seized by Spiders
ABC Fox reported that a homeowner in Missoula set out a spider trap overnight and what he got was a nasty surprise. In the morning when he came to check them, the traps were overflowing with hundreds of spiders. The resident got shocked to see the unwelcomed visitors with the arrival of fall.
As per experts, non-venomous spiders can enter houses through cracks and crevices. They look for warm places to nest for the winter. They mentioned that the bite of these spiders does not inject poison, but can introduce flesh-eating bacteria to the skin.
The owner of HoldFast EnviroPest Solutions, Josh McCloud, told ABC Fox Montana that the spiders don’t have any natural predators and can thus breed unchecked. McCloud said that last warmer winters have led to a population explosion among the spiders.
He explained, “We had a 60-degree day in February, and had really warm winter, and I think that kind of contributed, that gives them a larger growing season. They tend to hunker down during winter you don’t really see a lot of activity”.
He added that the best way to keep a home spiders-free is to avoid clutter and keep floors clean and vacuumed.
McCloud explained that a person should keep laundry off the floor because spiders somewhat like laundry as there are a number of nooks in there for them for building a web. He added that if someone leaves a cloth on a floor, a few days later there will be a hobo spider under there.
