Imphal, Dec. 28 (ANI): Despite the general society in Manipur yearning for peace, some militants are unwilling to give up their old habits and are not allowing people to lead a normal life in the State.

In the latest incident, some militants tried to disturb peace around the Raj Bhavan, the Governor's house.

One of the grenades that was thrown from the National Highway 150, exploded 70 feet from the main entrance of the sprawling Raj Bhavan campus at Nitaipat and another just 150 metres away from the Governor''s official residence.

Fortunately, there was no casualty or damage to property by the bomb blast.

Governor Gurbachan Jagat had left for New Delhi to attend a conference when the bomb blast occurred.

There have been two militant attacks at the residence of Manipur Chief Minister Ibobi Singh this year. But this was the first time that militant groups targeted the Raj Bhavan.

The incident has provoked strong reaction from the people of Manipur.

M. Roshima Devi, a local resident, said: "I want all this to stop totally. We want to see Manipur as a developing State like the other States."

P. Pepe Devi, one student, said: " There is constant fear among the students. Today, they threw a bomb at the Raj Bhavan. Who knows the next target may be our schools? We are scared."

Meanwhile, Kangleipak Communist party (KCP-Military council-Lanheiba) claimed responsibility for the attack. (ANI)
