Mattle posts slower than expected profits
Toy making company, Mattle said that it has posted lesser-than-expected profits for the second quarter.
It happened despite the fact that company was able to cut costs in a drastic way. A weak euro also played spoil-sports for Mattle despite it showing sales in the Hot Wheels segment.
Mattle had recently joined hands from the makers of Toy Story 3 and make the related merchandise. While this series did well in the market, currency fluctuations made it difficult for Mattle to post profit.
For the second-quarter, it posted a profit of $51.6 million as compared to $21.5 million. This means that the profits have risen from 6 cents per share to a paltry 14 cents per share, in a period of 12 months.
Mattle is the company that makes toy brands like Barbie, American Girl along with Hot Wheel and merchandise.
The results have missed the analyst expectations by 1 cent, per share. Post the declaration, shares of Mattle fell down by 9.52 per cent to close at $2.19.
The El Segundo, California-based firm saw the revenues rising by 13.6 per cent to end at $1.02 billion. This is exactly what the Wall Street had predicted.
