Lynx and wolves could be reintroduced to Scotland

According to reports, lynx, wild boar and wolves could be again introduced to Scotland under plans of a new campaign group. The group, Rewilding Britain, has goals to restore a number of species that are on the verge of extinction.

According to its supporters, large predators live in European countries. They also said that it is difficult to understand why Scotland and some other parts of Britain are acting differently. Proposals of the group were already criticized by leaders of farmers.

According to the Scottish government, they have no plans of reintroducing large predators like lynx or wolves. Rewildling Britain has said that its plans would assist in regeneration of native forests and provide an opportunity to the seas to recover from fishing that is done on industrial level.

According to spokeswoman Susan Wright, many other important animals were hunted to extinction.

According to Vice President Andrew McCornick, "Our countryside provides food, forestry, tourism, renewables, field sports and environmental goods. Recent history has taught us any species introduction, whether legal or illegal, can have an impact on the many benefits that the Scottish countryside currently delivers".

Those who are against rewilding talked about the reintroduction of beavers and sea eagles to Scotland to explain how it led to problems for crofters and farmers. As per landowners on Tayside, dams created by beavers have led to increased erosion and the risk of flooding.

As per the animals' supporters, they make biodiversity better by creating important habitats for many of other species.
