Washington, January 19: Late actor Heath Ledger was being lined up to portray activist Tom Hayden, Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda's ex-husband, in a film about the Chicago Seven when he died from an accidental drug overdose in January last year.

Ledger's long-time agent Steve Alexander has revealed that the actor was to discuss the film with filmmaker Steven Spielberg on the day after his death.

According to Contactmusic, He told Entertainment Weekly magazine that the two of them were hoping "to explore the idea of playing Tom Hayden".

Hayden and six other activists were charged with conspiracy, inciting to riot, and other charges related to protests that took place at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. (ANI)
