Bangalore, Mar 14 : Bangalore police has expressed its inability to provide security for the scheduled Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament before May 3.

Police have suggested the IPL organisers to hold all matches after May 4.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari on Saturday said police cited the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as the main reason behind the local police's conclusion.

"Bangalore City police will not be in a position to give security for IPL matches until May 3 in view of our commitments regarding Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April

23 and April 30," said Shankar Bidari.

Moreover, the Police Commissioner also refused to provide security for matches from May 15 to 18 in view of counting of votes on May 16.

As per the earlier schedule of IPL, matches were supposed to be played on April 14, 19, 23 and May 3, 7, 15 and 19.

Requesting the organisers to reschedule the dates Bidari stated that security could be possible if matches are played on May 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 19 and 20.

Meanwhile, IPL authorities have said they are ready with the third schedule. (ANI)
