Jumbo - the movie does not even impress the lovers of animated films

JumboMore or less a downer for Akshay Kumar's fans, this movie does not even impress the lovers of animated films.

In the film Akshay lends his voice to the protagonist Jumbo who, Separated from his mother in his youth, wanders out of the forest and into the neighboring town Shaktinagar, where he is Sheltered by a Chacha Chaudhary clone, grows up and eventually finds his girlfriend in Sonia (Lara Dutta). The king of their province calls for another battle and expectedly Jumbo is chosen as the emperor's elephant who has to face the most feared warrior elephant that ever lived the rival kingdom's tusker Bhaktavar (Gulshan Grover). Incidentally the very same elephant was also responsible for the death of Jumbo's father who too was a royal elephant.

Akshay might be very good at many of the things that he does; like action, comedy and romance. But he has not been able to bestow his charisma upon Jumbo, probably because he has never been very good at voice modulation.

Dimple Kapadia as the voice of Devi, Jumbo's doting mother also does not add anything different or noteworthy in the film and so is the case of Lara Dutta.

However, the supporting players - Asrani, Gulshan Grover and particularly Rajpal Yadav - succeed in making their characters memorable by giving them distinct flavors. The film has its animation roots in Thailand so the animation is not bad either. But over all the film fails to make an impression on the audience.
