Jedi Makes a Comeback in 'Star Wars Rebels' Finale

Jedi has made a comeback in the Star Wars galaxy. In Monday night's first-season finale of Star Wars Rebels, a Disney XD animated series, Ahsoka Tano, an apprentice to Anakin Skywalker before his transformation into Darth Vader, was revealed as the mysterious hooded informant Fulcrum.

Ashley Eckstein has given voice to this female fan-favorite character, a part of the five seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

But, the series has finally come to an end on a cliffhanger with the teenage Ahsoka leaving the Jedi Temple and going her own way.

The main focus of Dave Filoni, Rebels executive producer, was on showcasing the main characters of the new show, the crew of the Ghost, including the Jedi warrior Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and his young charge Ezra Bridger, before showing the past characters from Clone Wars such as Ahsoka.

Filoni said, "Our heroes need some help so she was definitely someone we thought we could call upon".

Eckstein said that the fans hated Ahsoka as "snippy" young Jedi from the 2008 Clone Wars animated movie, so Ahsoka moved to become a beloved part of the Star Wars canon. She added that it was an honor for her and she didn't take it lightly and is very humbled to be a part of this fantastic character.

Last year, when Clone Wars ended, Filoni still had stories for 12 more episodes that would have explored Ahsoka's history and have thrown some light over what happened to her after leaving the Jedi order when she was around age 16. Many of them were worked on with George Lucas while he was still heavily involved in the Star Wars universe.
