Indian High Commissioner greets Nawaz Sharif
Lahore, Mar 4: Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad Satyabrata Pal is learnt to have called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif at his residence last evening and conveyed Indian leadership’s greetings to him.
The high commissioner expressed satisfaction at the prospect that a civilian democratic government would be restored in Pakistan. He also expressed confidence that the two neighbours would be able to intensify the peace process, reported the Daily Times.
According to the paper, the former Pakistan premier thanked the Indian High Commissioner, and reiterated his desire to see both countries live in an atmosphere of peace and mutual co-operation.
On the occasion, Nawaz also recalled his initiative of inviting former Indian prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to Pakistan, and signing of the historic Lahore Declaration.
In the recently held National Assembly elections, Nawaz’s PML-N had emerged as the second largest party winning 62 seats. (ANI)
